Anyone who is aged between 7 – 65, an Australian citizen or permanent resident and you require support due to permanent and significant disability you should should be eligible to receive NDIS funding.
Upon determining you are eligible you are probably now wondering how to get NDIS funding.

If you’re confident that you’re eligible to access NDIS funding, call the National Disability Insurance Agency to make an access request. You can do this over the phone (call 1800 800 110) or you can complete the access request form on the NDIS website.

The access test will require you to answer a series of questions about yourself and your disability. Your doctor or other health professionals may also be required to submit evidence of your disability and its impact on your life.
Prepare For Your Planning Meeting
When your access request is approved the next step will be to meet with your local NDIA co-ordinator. Your planning meeting can be done in person or over the phone.
The planning meeting is an important part of creating your NDIS plan. Your plan will determine what your goals are and how best your funding can be used.
Your NDIS plan is unique and personalised to support you achieve your goals.
NDIS Planning Meeting – What’s Involved?
You will be asked similar questions to those you answered during your access request along with a number of others, like what supports you are currently receiving, from service providers, the local community or your family and friends.
You will also be asked about goals you would like to achieve. This is an important part of the planning as it will identify what types of support you require to achieve them.
My NDIS Plan Is Approved – Now What?
The NDIA will prepare your approved NDIS plan and provide it to you either in person or they will mail it to your address. If you have vision or hearing impairment, you may request for your plan to be provided in a different accessible format such as Braille, electronic text (on CD), large print or audio (on CD).
You can also have your plan translated in your preferred language.
Your plan will be in place for a 12 month period unless otherwise stated.
Now that you have your approved NDIS plan you can access your funding for the supports you require. Depending on how you have chosen to have your plan funds managed, either by the NDIA, managed by a registered third-party like Ruby Care, or self-managed.

Your Ongoing Plan
Your NDIS plan will continue for a 12 month period before you are due for a plan review. A plan review is your opportunity to discuss any problems you have encountered and to make any changes required for the next 12 month period.
If your needs or circumstances change before the scheduled plan review you should request a plan review. Depending on the situation the NDIS may or may not need to make changes to your plan.
